There have been discussions about organizing a regional WordCamp for the Asian community for years now. During Contributor Day at WordCamp Bangkok 2019, a group of us decided we should apply to organize WordCamp Asia.
The primary goal for WordCamp Asia would be to inspire and support other local WordCamps and Meetups. Asian WordPress communities have grown over the past few years, and we think the best way to accelerate that growth is to bring the community together.
After many discussions over the years, it has become clear that Bangkok is a good choice to host the first WordCamp Asia. WordCamp Bangkok is one of the largest WordCamps in Asia, with speakers, sponsors, and attendees from across Asia.
During Contributor Day at WordCamp Bangkok 2019, we decided that February 2020 would probably be the ideal time to hold WordCamp Asia. Discussions about where and when to hold WordCamp Asia have been going on for years, and we are very excited to have a solid plan so that we can move forward and bring the community together.
Just like WordCamp US and WordCamp Europe have inspired and led the way for WordCamp Asia, WordCamp Asia will inspire and lead the way for our local communities.
We’ve closed the proposal collaboration process and call-for-organisers.
